History

1997
Wizoo is founded by the author, sound designer and studio musician Peter Gorges. In its early stages the company consists of two segments: Publishing and sound design. As a publishing company Wizoo is soon known for its profound literature on music technology. In sound design it establishes as the place to go when it comes to professional sample libraries. Wizoo has ever since been pioneering in the development of software musical instruments and audio hardware as well as high-quality expert literature.

1999
Wizoo cooperates with Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH. Starting with the LM-4 Software Drum Machine this joint venture has brought forth products like The Grand, Virtual Guitarist, Xphraze, Hypersonic or Virtual Bassist defining standards still valid today.

2002
Wizoo hits the web. The new online-portal www.wizoosounds.com allows users from all over the world to buy and download professional sample instruments in no time at all.

2004
In February a second local R&D-branch is founded in Troisdorf employing a team of eight developers renowned, among other things, for the development of the Creamware Scope-System. In May the famous Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer can be won as a joint partner contributing greatly to trend-setting developments as well as the company's reputation. In summer Wizoo enters a worldwide sales partnership withz M-Audio. In addition Wizoo introduces its first two proprietary software instruments: Latigo and Darbuka. The M-Rigs, two successful software instrument suites under the M-Audio-label and the brand-new WizooVerbs, a series of high-end reverbs, follow soon.

2005
Until August Wizoo is owned in equal shares by founder Peter Gorges, film composer Hans Zimmer and the former founder of Steinberg, Manfred Rürup, three men and experts in their  fields who made the company one of the world leading suppliers of music technology and intelligent tools for the music and entertainment business.

Since August 2005 the Wizoo Sound Design GmbH is owned by Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology Inc. and the world leading producer of digital audio production systems.
Wizoo Publishing has been trading as an independent GmbH since and has been working on expanding its publishing activities to the music sector as a whole.
